Dr. Michael Avidan is honored with the 2025 President's Achievement Award.

The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recently presented Michael Avidan, MBBCh, with its 2025 President's Achievement Award. Dr. Avidan leads WashU Medicine's Department of Anesthesiology. He is the Dr. Seymour and Rose T. Brown Professor of Anesthesiology and anesthesiologist-in-chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Each year, the Foundation presents the President's Achievement Award to an accomplished physician, researcher, or faculty partner who upholds the Barnes-Jewish Hospital mission, advances medical knowledge, continuously improves the delivery of world-class patient care, and educates the next generation of clinicians.

A recent Leading Edge Medicine event featured a panel of WashU Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital cardiovascular experts. Drs. Gregory A. Ewald, Tsuyoshi Kaneko, and Nishath Quader discussed the future of cardiovascular care and the philanthropic investments that are transforming outcomes for patients with heart disease.

When Tsuyoshi Kaneko, MD, arrived as the chief of cardiac surgery at WashU Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in October 2022, he delivered a bounty of innovations for patients like Harry Ratliff.
