At The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital, gratitude inspires us every day. Our mission is to help donors enrich lives, save lives, and transform health care through charitable gifts. 

With the help of our compassionate donors, we do more to help researchers find better treatments for the diseases affecting us most, pay it forward to a new generation of health care providers, and improve the health and well-being of our patients, our family, and our community.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports the work of Barnes-Jewish Hospital; Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital; Siteman Cancer Center; Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing; BJC Community Health Improvement; BJC Home Care; BJC Hospice, including Evelyn’s House; and WashU Medicine.

Our donors include people from every walk of life. Some are grateful former patients or their loved ones; others are simply determined to make a difference. Some donors live as far away as China, while many are St. Louisans who are proud to support one of the crown jewels of our city.

• vital research that leads to treatment breakthroughs

• patient care and services for those who need financial assistance

• nursing scholarships and continuing education opportunities

• community outreach programs, including more than 30,000 free flu shots annually for people all over the St. Louis area.

Since our founding in 1996, we’ve continued to grow and expand our impact on the community. Today, we are the largest charitable foundation in St. Louis (based on grant volume) and the largest private donor to Washington University School of Medicine, supporting research, grants, educational programs, and endowed chairs.
