On June 11, BJC HealthCare marked a significant milestone for the Barnes-Jewish Hospital campus renewal project with the Plaza West Tower topping out ceremony.

The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital is proud to announce the distribution of $324,000 to 11 nonprofit organizations this August through the Community Support Grants Program.

Stephanie M. Perkins, MD, accomplished expert in pediatric and proton radiation, has been named the S. Lee Kling Endowed Chair in Radiation Oncology at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital. As director of the S. Lee Kling Proton Therapy Center at Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center over the last four years, her many achievements have cemented her position as a national leader dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing the proton therapy field.

As Susan Ell plans for her upcoming retirementt from the Foundation she reflects on 10 years spent advancing our mission and growing our impact--inspired by donors every step of the way. 

Through its affiliation with Washington University School of Medicine and strategic partnerships, BJC HealthCare seamlessly integrates education, research, and clinical care to provide leading-edge treatments for patients while training the next generation of health care professionals. The Foundation plays a crucial role in providing educational opportunities, nursing scholarships, endowed chairs, mentorship programs, and more with the help of generous donors.

In its milestone 15th year, we are pleased to announce that the Cancer Frontier Fund at The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital recently funded six new projects through the Siteman Investment Program, a research grant program at Siteman. These projects include research focused on breast and ovarian cancer development, chemoradiation therapy for cervical cancer, immunotherapy for leukemia, and enhancing the well-being of family caregivers of cancer hospice patients.

Long recognized as leaders in head and neck tumor surgery and reconstruction, Siteman recently established the Head and Neck Tumor Center, among the first of its kind in the country. 

The Breast Cancer Community Investment Fund in Breast Cancer, created by generous Foundation donors in 2023, supports the Breast Cancer Equity Group, a collaboration between Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University. This group is addressing the alarming fact that Black women have a 90% higher mortality rate than white women related to breast cancer in the St. Louis region.

We are proud to announce the distribution of $258,395 this June through the Foundation's Community Support Grants Program. Because of visionary donors, we award these grants to local nonprofit organizations, ensuring investment in improving the health of our community is a priority.
