Ryan Todd, senior vice president of mobility solutions for Enterprise Holdings Inc., joined The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital as a board member at the beginning of 2022 and became an Illumination Gala Ambassador. However, Ryan’s desire to get involved and give back to his community began long before.

When Khalia Collier, owner and general manager of the St. Louis Surge women’s professional basketball team, was asked to consider joining the board of The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital she saw it as a natural fit.  

Maria B. Majella Doyle, MD, a highly regarded liver transplant surgeon, has been named the Mid-America Transplant/Department of Surgery Distinguished Endowed Chair in Abdominal Transplantation at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. 

Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College welcomed Angela Clark, RN, MSN, PhD, last month as the new Maxine Clark and Bob Fox President and professor. She succeeds Nancy Ridenour, RN, APRN, PhD, who retired Dec. 31 after serving as president since 2017.

After Michael Roberts’ first wife, Randee, died of an aggressive type of brain cancer in 2006, Michael wanted to show his appreciation for the care she received at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

In 2019, almost 50,000 people in the United States died from an opioid overdose and 21 to 29 percent of people who were prescribed opioids misused them. Improper disposal or accumulation of unused medication in the home contributes to the accidental consumption and abuse of opioids.

The burden of cancer is dramatically high in the African American community, with the mortality rate 41% higher for Black women than white. In St. Louis, The Breast Health Care for At-Risk Communities program is among initiatives aimed at reducing that shocking disparity.
