New Notice of Award

Starting September 2019, the Notice of Award Form (NOA) will have a new, branded look. The changes are purely cosmetic and all grant information will remain in its current location.

NO CARRYOVERS FOR GRANTS ENDING JUNE 30, 2020

Due to system changes in grants administration, The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital will not be able to allow any carryovers for grants with an end date of June 30, 2020. Any funds remaining from those grants on June 30, 2020, will be returned to the Foundation and placed into the fund(s) from which they were originally granted. As a reminder, designated fund holders may request designated funds at any time.

Who is affected by this? add

Principal investigators with an existing designated award, endowed chair, or project award with an end date of June 30, 2020 will be affected by this. You will not be affected by this if your award has a different end date.

How will I be impacted? add

Any unspent dollars on your existing Foundation grants as of June 30, 2020 will be returned to the Foundation and placed into the funds from which they were originally granted.

Will I lose any money? add

If the grant is a designated or endowed chair, you won’t lose any money. Those funds will be placed into your designated/endowed chair at the Foundation. Those funds can be requested at a later date.

Project award recipients with grants ending June 30, 2020 are strongly encouraged to spend funds prior to that end date. However, if a strong business reason exists an extension may be granted.

What do I need to do if I am impacted? add

You should spend all of the funds in your existing grant by June 30, 2020.

Why is this change being made? add

The change is being made so that grants can be tracked in a more efficient manner consistent with the other grants issued by the Foundation. Payments will transition from fixed amounts to direct reimbursement based on spending.

Will this affect future awards? add

No. This “No Carryover” will only affect grants with an ending period of June 30, 2020.

Who should I contact for help? add

This webpage will be updated with the latest information related to these changes. You may also contact Donald Buckner, the Foundation's grants and funds administration manager, at [email protected].

Is there anything else I need to know? add

A cosmetic change to the Notice Of Awards (NOA) will be effective Sept 1, 2019. This will be a visual reminder that awards in this new format are all direct reimbursements.
