Bill Wilson’s experience as a patient is exactly what led him back to Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in 2019 as a volunteer. Bill and his wife, Ellie, bring their dog, Scout, to visit patients at Siteman every week.

With donor support, the transplant pilot project program provides the early-stage funding needed to test new ideas and routinely opens the door to additional large-scale government funding that leads to new, life-saving treatments.

Harry Ratliff has been a strong advocate for health care through volunteering and board memberships for over 20 years. He’s continuing this mission in his new position on the board of The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Maria B. Majella Doyle, MD, a highly regarded liver transplant surgeon, has been named the Mid-America Transplant/Department of Surgery Distinguished Endowed Chair in Abdominal Transplantation at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. 

Transplant pilot grants help identify and advance the promising research of our world-class physician-scientists. This early-stage funding routinely opens the door to additional national funding and serves as a critical catalyst to developing new lifesaving treatments.
