Nine Local Nonprofits Receive Community Support Grants

The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital is proud to announce the distribution of $186,300 to nine nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis region through the Community Support Grants Program. Our commitment to building healthier and brighter futures for everyone extends beyond the hospital walls and into the community. The grants will support the following organizations and projects:

Covenant House Missouri
Funding will help provide housing and support services for youth and young adults who are runaway, trafficked, or at risk of becoming unhoused and help them transition into stable housing.

Health Protection and Education Services
Grant support will assist in addressing and improving community health through Hepatitis B and C specialized prevention, screening, and education.

Operation Food Search
Funds will build capacity for the Fresh Rx: Community Nutrition program to create a hunger-free tomorrow by ensuring nutrient-dense food delivery to feed-insecure seniors, improving nutrition intake and food security.

Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA)
Support will expand staffing capacity for the Sexual Assault Response Team, which deploys trained volunteer advocates to area hospitals and police departments to provide advocacy, emotional support, and knowledge resources for women escaping domestic violence and sexual assault.

ALIVE
This grant will ensure that victims of domestic violence have transportation to safe shelter, health care, counseling, and other destinations that prioritize safety, healing, and access to support.

Beyond Housing
Foundation support will expand the Community Health program to include group learning opportunities that enhance health literacy through workshops, activities, and health screenings, increasing knowledge and life skills.

The Breakfast Club Inc.
Funding will help further the organization’s mission of education, awareness, resources, and support around breast health and breast cancer prevention and screening in the St. Louis area.

Pink Ribbon Good
Grant funds will provide free healthy meals, transportation to treatment, house cleaning essentials, and peer support to families affected by breast or gynecological cancer.

City Greens Market
Support will help launch a free, all-ages nutrition and cooking workshop program with fresh take-home ingredients to increase the options available to families with nutrient-dense foods and produce.

The Foundation awards Community Support Grants four times throughout the year to local nonprofit organizations focused on reducing health care disparities; fostering strong community health care networks; promoting adult health, wellness, and disease prevention in the community; and providing quality health care education. Five endowed funds held at the Foundation support the program, ensuring investment in improving the health of our community is a priority.

Organizations may apply for a community support grant through the Grant Opportunity Web Portal. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed quarterly.
