The Foundation Awards a New Round of Community Support Grants to Three Local Nonprofits

The Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital’s commitment to building healthier and brighter futures for everyone extends beyond the hospital walls and into the community. The Foundation is proud to announce the distribution of $66,000 to three nonprofit organizations in the St. Louis region through its Community Support Grants Program. The grants will support the following organizations and projects:
Holy Sews
Grant support will help families in St. Louis area hospitals grieve the unimaginable loss of their babies at birth or in newborn intensive care units. Funding will help purchase supplies for sewing and packaging layettes to clothe these infants in honor and dignity and provide care for those who are hurting.
Affinia Healthcare
Foundation support will cover personnel costs, supplies, and other expenses for a mobile health screening unit to bring services to seniors in the community. With grant funding, preventative care will be delivered to places like senior housing and adult daycare centers to promote healthy aging and early disease detection.
Fit & Food Connection
Funds will help address food insecurity and health disparities for families in North St. Louis, where compound challenges following the recent tornado continue to drive chronic illness. With Foundation support, a food access and wellness recovery initiative will distribute fresh, healthy food to hundreds of tornado-affected families and conduct nutrition and wellness workshops to build disease prevention skills.
The Foundation awards Community Support Grants four times throughout the year to local nonprofit organizations focused on reducing health care disparities; fostering strong community health care networks; promoting adult health, wellness, and disease prevention in the community; and providing quality health care education.
Five endowed funds held at the Foundation support the program, ensuring investment in improving the health of our community is a priority. Thanks to this commitment, the Foundation was able to award $507,300 to 23 community organizations in 2025.
Organizations may apply for a community support grant through the Grant Opportunity Web Portal. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed quarterly.
